🧡 Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Elder abuse thrives on silence — most of it happens at home, by people the elder loves. Talking about it is the first protection.

Know the signs

Unexplained bruises; sudden fear of a particular person; money or documents disappearing; an elder left unwashed, unmedicated, or alone for days; a caregiver who never lets them speak alone. Any one sign deserves a question.

What to do

If there is immediate danger call 911. Otherwise, the Family Protection Department and the Ministry of Social Development receive reports; our own safeguarding channel (+962 6 552 9397) can advise confidentially on concerns about any elder — not only our residents.

Financial abuse — the quiet one

Pensions taken, signatures pressured, property transferred "for convenience." Islam's inheritance rules and the civil law both protect elders' property while they live — a wakala should serve the elder, not empty them.
