The adhan of their childhood reaches where words no longer can.
Personal-music therapy is proven to calm agitation in dementia. We take the science further: for our generation of elders, the deepest audio memories are not only Um Kulthum and Fairuz — they are the voices of the great qaris.
Our "memory detectives" sit with each family to rebuild the resident's soundtrack: the qari whose recitation opened their mornings (Abdul Basit? Al-Minshawi?), the adhan style of their hometown, the wedding songs of their youth, the Fairuz of their kitchen radio.
International programs like the UK's Playlist for Life have documented reduced anxiety and agitation from personally meaningful music. Quranic recitation adds a dimension Western programs never had — and we intend to document the results with academic partners.
